Version 2
The Minecraft of it all
There are reasons I stopped playing minecraft so much. A major one is that there aren't hours in the day for it. Another major one is that Microsoft supports the genocide in Gaza so when there was call for a boycott of minecraft I didn't even particularly want to play the game. Also there aren't enough hours in the day.
Vintage Story is an uncompromising wilderness survival sandbox game inspired by eldritch horror themes. Find yourself in a ruined world reclaimed by nature and permeated by unnerving temporal disturbances. Relive the advent of human civilization, or take your own path. - From the Vintage Story website
There are several reasons that I believe a Vintage Story version of languagen't would be really fun.
Firstly: Not many people I know have played the game. If their first experience was languagen't, that would be really funny.
But also, I do genuinely think that the increased difficulty and complexity could mean that the language would develop differently than in languagen't 1, and I'm curious about how that would play out. It has seasons and cooking and pottery and nutrition and tanning and alcohol brewing and cheese making. All that will affect what words need to be defined.
Here's the problem with doing languagen't 2 on vintage story: I don't know many people who own the game. 20 Euros to pay to buy the game to join a server. It's not a nothing ask.
I also don't want to heavily mod whatever game the server does end up using. Mainly for performance reasons. I want players to be able to play on potato computers and I don't want anyone to struggle with setting up their game to join the server.
Planned Changes from languagen't 1
- The server will still be whitelist only, but applications to join the server will be found here on the site so anyone can ask to join. I do not have the time or resources to create and run a public server.
- The server will have 'sessions' scheduled where the server is turned on, rather than being online all the time.
